From Lab to Global Market: A scientist’s path to building deep-tech company
What you'll learn
What does it take to turn PhD research into a deep-tech company?
This three-part video course follows the journey of Jan Neuman, co-founder and CEO of NenoVision, from doctoral research and a scientific prototype to building a company and bringing its technology to the global market.
Through his personal experience, learners will explore key decisions and challenges involved in entrepreneurship, including choosing a career path after a PhD, identifying personal strengths and motivations, forming a team, technology transfer, funding, turning research into a product, finding the right market, and working with customers.
The course also highlights the differences between academic and business mindsets and reflects on which skills a PhD provides and which need to be developed beyond academia. Real examples, lessons learned, and a short self-reflection exercise offer practical insights for PhD candidates considering career opportunities in entrepreneurship, innovation, or industry.
