Proposal writing in Horizon Europe
Self-paced courses

What you'll learn
This course demystifies Horizon proposal writing by walking you through the funding landscape (individual vs. collaborative grants; top-down vs. bottom-up calls) and the key principles that consistently win—or lose—points. You’ll learn how Horizon proposals are structured and assessed under the three main evaluation criteria: Excellence, Impact, and Quality & efficiency of implementation. The course covers how to define SMART objectives and measurable KPIs, justify ambition beyond the state of the art, and integrate interdisciplinarity, open science practices (including data management), gender dimension, and (where required) SSH contributions. You’ll learn about building pathways to impact, distinguishing outputs vs. outcomes vs. impacts, selecting stakeholder groups, setting communication/dissemination/exploitation measures, and identifying barriers.
